At Bransfield we aim to ensure that all our students develop the range of professional and personal skills required for success in their chosen careers.

Close links with the professions and employers, work placement and volunteering opportunities, professionally accredited courses, comprehensive careers services and support for student and graduate entrepreneurs make us one of the best places you can launch your career over 92% of our graduates are in employment or further study within six months of completing their courses.

Professional Involvement in Our Courses

Our course development teams include current practitioners and professionals who work with us from the earliest stages of course design to ensure that our syllabuses meet the current and future needs of employers.

Many of Bransfield staff combines teaching with work in their professional field. Staff, advisors and our former students mentor current students, provide seminars and lectures and arrange or supervise work placements.

Professional Accreditation

The majority of students at Bransfield are on courses accredited by professional and statutory bodies. Successful completion of a professionally accredited course indicates that you have reached the occupational standard required to practice that profession. Our courses are accredited by a range of professional bodies including ACCA, the Health Professions Council, the British Computer Society, the Institutions of Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and Structural Engineers, RIBA, the Chartered Management Institute and the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Work Placements

Over 90 per cent of our courses provide work placement or other professional work-based opportunities. A placement can offer you a taste of what life is really like in your chosen field provides useful work experience and gives you a chance to impress potential employers. Each faculty has a placement officer who will help you find a suitable placement and support you throughout your time in the workplace.

Comprehensive Careers Support and Advice

The Careers Centre can help you find employment while you are here and when you graduate.

Careers information centres on each of the main campuses provide services including drop-in CV clinics and practice sessions for psychometric tests. The careers website provides up-to-date information on occupations, employers, and further study and training opportunities.

Careers counsellors can help you develop your career plans and make applications to prospective employers. Subject-specific group sessions on career planning and job search strategies are offered by the Careers Centre in conjunction with teaching departments across the university.

A fortnightly bulletin with details of graduate-level jobs, careers events, work experience and study opportunities is available on campus and online. Our well-established annual careers fair provides a chance for students to meet potential employers. Employers report being impressed by the standard of Bransfield University students and graduates, and keen to recruit from those they meet on the day.

Jobworkshop connects students with part-time, temporary and vacation work opportunities. On average 200 jobs are available at any one time and over 800 students register to use the service each year. Jobworkshop students also gain experience of interviews and, of course, the world of work itself both valuable when it comes to competing for a career job after university.


Voluntary work can play a key role in your personal and professional development. Bransfield's award-winning ActiveStudent scheme offers a wealth of opportunities to make a contribution to the local community.

We also help students and graduates get their own business ideas off to the best possible start through a range of support services, including workshops, mentoring, awards schemes, and funding.
