The School of Computing has a thriving and active research culture pushing the boundaries of computing and the application of computer systems. Research within the School covers a wide range of areas, with projects ranging from highly theoretical to very practical.

It is based around a number of research groups, five of the most active of which have been selected for inclusion in the UK government's 2008 Research Assessment Exercise:

  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Parallel and Distributed Systems
  • Healthcare Modelling and Informatics

We do not currently have any funded research studentships available but we welcome suitably qualified applicants for self-funded research studentships in our principal areas. Note that all applications must be made online

Weekly Research Seminars

The School has weekly research seminars, presented by both internal and external researchers. In addition, staff attends the Joint Resarch seminar for all staff who is involved in computing related research. The full timetable is available. (Includes internal staff development sessions)
