All our courses are constantly reviewed and tailored so that they are up-to-date with current social and political issues and meet our students' learning skills and requirements so that they can go onto successful professional careers.

We work hard to ensure that our students receive an inspirational and diverse teaching and learning experience of the highest quality, one that is suitable to and supportive of their different experiences. We take an inter-disciplinary approach and combine many subjects in lectures, seminars and personal tutorials to support our students during their time with us.

Our Subject Areas

The first year of our undergraduate courses equips students with the essential principles of sociology, politics, criminology, social policy and political economy. It also prepares them for more specialised study in the second and third year. Each individual course helps our students develop essential career skills, some of which include: analytical research, information technology, cultural sensitivity and communication skills.

We offer innovative postgraduate courses in Social Research Methods, Refugee Studies and Development Studies. Each course has a strong emphasis on research and our students are given various opportunities to take part in various research activities and encouraged to develop their own with the support of lecturers and research staff.
