With emphasis on applying theory to the real world, our courses are carefully designed with the needs of industry, as well as the learner in mind. Learning methods include:

  • Action Learning
  • Real Life Challenges
  • Case Studies BU Study Trips
  • Small Learning Groups

Many of our Masters level courses are available as individual modules for CPD purposes. Please see the following subject areas for details of courses:

We also offer an MA/MSc by Learning Objectives which provides a masters level qualification to fit with the demands of your job and lifestyle. The bespoke nature of the course allows you to draw up a programme of individually tailored study which is structured part-time around your specialist interest and/or your work environment, thus providing a 'work-based masters' course.

Courses Designed Specifically to Meet Your Needs

We regularly deliver programmes which have been specifically designed and developed to meet your organisation's needs and objectives. These courses may be validated so that employees have a recognised qualification at the end of the course, but the content is geared to the commissioning organisation. Clients include:

  • Debenhams
  • The Pensions Regulator
  • Sussex Police
  • NHS
  • London Probation Service
  • Disney Black Rock Studio

The university also provides tailor-made short courses in ethics to a range of organisations in the public, voluntary and private sectors. We discuss with you the sorts of ethical issues that you would find useful to explore and put together a course to suit your needs.

Bransfield also hosts the Centre for Work and Learning, which brings professionally-focussed, university-level education to people who are already in the workplace.

This service draws together resources from nine educational partners to provide businesses with an economical way to meet their training needs as costs may be partially met by the provider. The education can be structured to fit around the demands of a full or part-time job, and tailored to the needs of the organisation. It is particularly helpful for more mature learners and those who may have been out education for a significant period of time.

Delivery methods include workshops and short courses, small linked modules, distance/blended and e-learning modules enabling more off-site and workplace learning.

Subject areas are mainly focussed around change management relevant to community regeneration, business and management skills within creative, media and the communications industry, finance, justice, transport and public services.
